Personal Application of the Psychological & Spiritual Aspects of Healing (Unit 9 Final Project):

Psychological, spiritual and physical development is essential for health and wellness professionals. By cultivating true integral health, become genuinely happy and whole inside and out. In doing so, we relinquish the stress, aggravation, and negativities that affect our mood and misguide our judgment. You become a better listener, thinker, and responder to those other than yourself. Being proficient in all three of these aspects (psychologically, spiritually and physically) puts you in the positive position to help those in need as a health and wellness professional. Being mindful and conscious of your own thoughts and feelings provides you with the ability to resourcefully analyze others and their viewpoints as well.
In the World we live in today, alternative and holistic medicines are being practiced more each day. As research continues to advance our knowledge of the mind and all its wonders, health and wellness professionals create new, innovative ways to promote and improve health and wellness throughout the population. Integral health is known and achieved through the development of our inner life and our healing capacities (Dacher, 2006). Integral health is a perspective on well-being and personal development that incorporates the entire range of human experience–physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and interpersonal. Being consciously aware of your innermost self improves your mind/body connection. Personally, I feel that I’m still developing spiritually. Some goals I have set for myself to improve my spiritual connection includes meditating and yoga. These exercises will enable me to become more in touch with my mind and spirit so that I may meet my goals set forth.
Before setting a goal, it is a good idea to think through some steps so that your goal setting will be effective and you will be successful. Goal development entails analyzing the outcome and steps to take to achieve the goal. A goal I set for myself in hope of improving my physical activity is walking to my son’s bus stop in the afternoons, instead of driving. While this seems like a simple goal to meet, motivating yourself both mentally and physically to actually do it can be a challenge within itself. Everyone has the potential for growth towards wisdom and enlightenment. Integral health introduces consciousness and healthy healing for health and wellness professionals Worldwide.

Exercises for Mind-Body-Spirit Wellness and Healing (Unit 6):

The universal loving kindness meditation exercise was quite interesting. Even though this exercises seems like it only applies to romance relationships, that is just not so. Upon practicing this exercise, I’ve come to find that taking 10 minutes out of my day to calm my mind and body is actually quite beneficial. As I repeat the four phrases, I feel an empowerment and begin to shift my focus from personal love to universal loving-kindness. The integral assessment discussed in chapter 4 of this week’s readings enables you to gain sustained health, happiness, and wholeness by freeing your mind, body, and soul of negative energy, thoughts, and feelings. I felt a calming throughout my whole body when completing this assessment process. It’s was very refreshing and relaxing. I discovered that taking the time out to reflect and recollect my mind frame reduces those stressors that affect my performance and attitude throughout the day. My energy level also improved as I took the time to recharge my mind and body by meditation and utilizing breathing exercises.

Houston, we have a problem:

Please excuse the delay in my posts.. I got a virus on my computer and lost access to all the passwords for my online accounts. Thank you!

Relaxation Exercises (Unit 2):

The “Journey On” relaxation exercise was very soothing and comforting. The music and tone of man’s voice is calming which allows me to relax and breathe accordingly. I felt as though I was able to inhale the fresh air and exhale tension, stress, and negative thoughts. The breathing exercises help free the mind and body of unwanted feelings, while giving you the ability to recharge and revitalize your inner being. This exercise will direct you to systematically relax your major muscle groups by briefly flexing your muscles and then slowly releasing the tension. It begins by having you flex your facial muscles and continues with your neck and shoulders, down to your arms, abdomen and legs. The exercise ends by directing you to breathe deeply and slowly as you review parts of your body. Each step is easy to follow and helps in relieving the articles that caused distraction and discomfort. This relaxation exercise can be effective in reducing stress and anxiety you experience in your everyday life. Taking the time to quiet your mind enables you to make clearer decisions and allows you to react better to situations. The audio recording is over 10 minutes long, but definitely worth it.

Welcome!

Hello all! I am currently earning my BS in Health Science at Kaplan University. As an assignment in my Creating Wellness class, generating and maintaining a blog is required- so here we are. Although this is my first time blogging, I have been writing and reflecting for some time now. Personally, I feel that writing can be a positive outlet and form of expression. Whether keeping a journal or posting via web is your style, expressing yourself through written words can be quite therapeutic. I am hopeful that this will be a beneficial and positive experience! :)
