Relaxation Exercises (Unit 2):

The “Journey On” relaxation exercise was very soothing and comforting. The music and tone of man’s voice is calming which allows me to relax and breathe accordingly. I felt as though I was able to inhale the fresh air and exhale tension, stress, and negative thoughts. The breathing exercises help free the mind and body of unwanted feelings, while giving you the ability to recharge and revitalize your inner being. This exercise will direct you to systematically relax your major muscle groups by briefly flexing your muscles and then slowly releasing the tension. It begins by having you flex your facial muscles and continues with your neck and shoulders, down to your arms, abdomen and legs. The exercise ends by directing you to breathe deeply and slowly as you review parts of your body. Each step is easy to follow and helps in relieving the articles that caused distraction and discomfort. This relaxation exercise can be effective in reducing stress and anxiety you experience in your everyday life. Taking the time to quiet your mind enables you to make clearer decisions and allows you to react better to situations. The audio recording is over 10 minutes long, but definitely worth it.

  1. I agree that the guy had the most soothing voice ever. Even though I was totally distracted while trying to do this exercise, I found myself somehow calmer haha. There is a book/now iphone app called "Headspace" and it pretty much tries to teach you in 7 (or maybe it's 14?) days how to mediate and relax. I tried it once...and once again, I just couldnt' sit still for 15 minutes! Isn't that just awful? I am in desprate need of quieting my mind and anxiety...I have to learn how to be quiet mind, body, and soul.

  2. I'm with you, I think the exercise technique was well worth it! I did however, have to give it a couple tries before I actually felt any result. This wasn't because the clip wasn't good, but instead, because I didn't put myself in the environment codusive to relaxation. I am doing some work to our house right now so my office/hubby's man cave, is not useable. Instead, my "office" has been relocated to the dining table and that just wasn't the best spot to attempt the clip....insert barking dog, aromas of dinner cooking, and honey watching tv while I'm attempting to multitask and relax. Needless to say, I had to remove myself from that spot before the techniques could work. :) Congrats on being so close to graduation!
